The project will provide economic growth and employment opportunities in Halifax. Northgate House will create a hub for business, food, leisure and retail, providing increased footfall to the Town Centre. The improved education and skills offer in Calderdale will also encourage business investment and growth.

The project will deliver Calderdale’s young people a state of the art facility, designed to give the optimum learning environment. The facility further enhances their development; preparing them for further education, apprenticeships or their chosen career while retaining talent locally within the borough.
Accessibility
The Northgate House development is situated in a central position within the town centre. Adjacent to the bus station, with accessible car parking spaces at the front of the building, there is easy direct access for all users and visitors.

Education
We have delivered the building for Trinity Sixth Form Academy. It is a a state-of-the-art facility for Calderdale’s young people, designed to offer the optimum learning environment. Trinity Sixth Form Academy equips learners with the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours to become ‘Life Ready Learners’. Young people can prepare for further education, take apprenticeships or develop their chosen career in the centre of Halifax.
Accessibility
The Northgate development is right in the town centre, next to the bus station and in easy reach of accessible car parking. Direct access is easy for all users and visitors.

Work on major Northgate development now complete.
The Northgate development has seen the transformation of the former central library and Council offices. The library section opened as Trinity Sixth Form Academy in September 2020 and the remaining space has been developed to provide high-quality office space and a new retail and leisure offer in the heart of Halifax.
November 2021
Work to create premium office and retail space in Halifax town centre is nearing completion.
The Northgate development has been developed to provide high-quality office space and a new retail and leisure offer in the heart of Halifax.
The office space has been tailored to the requirements of the tenant, RSA, the multi-national insurance group. This has included the installation of a raised access floor, suspended ceiling and new staff facilities including meeting rooms and break out spaces, as well as complex mechanical, electric and plumbing systems
The courtyard area has now been levelled, creating a welcoming space off Market Street, with seating, planters and lighting. Level access is also available from this area to the retail units and office space.
Formal handover of the office space to RSA is due to take place later this year.
May 2021
Work continues on the office elements ready for a handover in the summer.
Work on the ground floor units is progressing. The units around the courtyard are suitable for retail, food and beverage, or offices. They are available for businesses to rent later in 2021.
December 2020
Work began to refurbish the former Council offices. Royal Sun Alliance have let the full office space for occupation in summer 2021.
2020
The Sixth Form Centre welcomed its first students in September 2020, in spite of the challenges COVID 19 presented to the project. Design of the office and retail elements has continued throughout, planned to open in summer 2021.
