Key details
We’re improving walking and cycling routes in Todmorden to make the town more accessible. The changes will promote healthier communities and create a more attractive and welcoming town.
Current status
Plans
This project will enable people to walk or cycle as part of their everyday journeys, allowing more people to access and enjoy Todmorden’s natural landscape.
As part of this project, we are:
- Creating walking and cycling routes to strengthen Todmorden’s offering as a place for outdoor activities.
- Creating a number of new cycle parking spaces throughout Todmorden.
- Improving pedestrian access, including links between Todmorden Rail Station and the town centre.
- Creating more attractive and pleasant public spaces in the town centre.
- Upgrading the existing crossing at Centre Vale Park to create a crossing for cyclists and pedestrians to use.
- Improving signage with clearer information for residents and visitors.
- Creating safer, greener cycling and pedestrian routes in and around the town centre.
- Linking the town’s walking and cycling network to regional and national routes, such as the Rochdale Canal and Pennine Way.
This project is part of the Todmorden Town Deal, a regeneration programme worth £17.5m to develop the local economy and transform this market town.
