The A641 improvement scheme is a large project spanning an 8-mile stretch from Low Moor in Bradford, through Brighouse in Calderdale, to Fartown in Huddersfield.
We’re listening
We are sharing proposals for the part of the scheme around Lower Wyke Lane and Wyke Old Lane near Brighouse.
We’re hosting two drop-in sessions for people that want to speak to a member of the project team about the proposals in this area on:
- Wednesday 26th July 2023, 3pm to 6.30pm, or
- Wednesday 2nd August 2023, 3pm to 6.30pm,
at Lower Wyke Moravian Church, Lower Wyke Lane, Lower Wyke, Bradford, BD12 9AH
You can view the proposals below and get in touch with the project team if you have any questions or comments.
Lower Wyke Lane and Wyke Old Lane quiet roads
We are proposing to make Lower Wyke Lane and Wyke Old Lane quiet roads. Quiet roads have less traffic to make it easier for people to walk and cycle avoiding busy roads. The only physical changes will be to signage, road markings and speed humps. We will add signs along the road to direct people walking and cycling to nearby destinations. The quiet road will run along Lower Wyke Lane and Wyke Old Lane, connecting the A58 at Wyke to the A641 north of Bailiff Bridge junction.
Locations of new speed humps
We are proposing to add four speed bumps along Wyke Old Lane to slow traffic down. Speed humps north of Lower Wyke Lane will be kept.
- Speed humps through this section to slow traffic
- Signs along Lower Wyke Lane to indicate routes for people walking and cycling
At the top of Lower Wyke Lane, we are adding a toucan crossing to make it easier for people walking and cycling to cross the A58. A toucan crossing is a form of pedestrian crossing that also allows cycles to cross safely. The paths on either side of the crossing will be shared between people walking and cycling.
Please note that the exact location of this crossing and its shared paths are under review and will change from the plan below.
- This section of path can be used by people walking or cycling so that they can both use the crossing.
- New push button, signal controlled crossing for people walking and cycling.
