Plans

We’re creating a trail that features a mix of brand-new art installations and existing landmarks in Halifax town centre. We’re working with local stakeholders to create a trail that guides people around the town centre, highlighting Halifax’s unique history, culture and art along the way.

The trail will feature existing points of interest in the town centre including:

  • Halifax Borough Market
  • The Victoria Theatre
  • Duke of Wellington Regiment Memorial
  • Burton Building
  • Sion Chapel and Sunday School
  • Halifax Minster
  • Somerset House

We're also working with local creatives to deliver new art installations including:

  • A new, modern moquette fabric at Halifax Bus Station.
  • A poem engraving at Halifax Central Library to commemorate Halifax born war hero David Moffatt, one of the Cockleshell Heroes involved in Operation Frankton.
  • A musical themed installation at Halifax Town Hall to celebrate this historic building.

At each location we're installing a plaque with a QR code and creating a trail map.
